Charles Campau and Mary Catherine Casse St. Aubin

Charles Was born October 20, 1715 at Montreal or Lachine. He came to the south shore of Detroit (now Canada) with his parents. Records indicate that he worked for his future father-in-law who had been granted land and goods as encouragement to settle the Amherstburg/Windsor area.

Catherine (b. 1732) was the daughter of Joseph and Julian Cullerier dit Ribercour. Charles and Catherine married October 31, 1751. They had one child together, Mary Louisa St. Aubin who was born September 9, 1752. Catherine was died in the next year on August 27, 1753. Please note that it was a custom to show Mary as a first name for females on birth documents in honor of the Virgin Mary. However, the second listed names is in actuality the name by which they are know. Therefore, Mary Catherine is Catherine. A similar custom of applies to males with Joseph being shown as a first name.

Charles soon married again on January 8, 1753 to Mary Charlotte dit Montreuil who was born in 1737 the daughter of Anthony Juillet dit Montreuil and Charlotte Pilet. Together they had 11 children prior to the death of Mary Charlotte on July 24, 1773. Charles dies on December 224, 1785 at the age of 70.
