My Second Great Grandparents
Joseph was born November 28, 1825 in River Canard (Sandwich West), Ontario. His parents were 33 years old. He was baptized at the Assumption Roman Catholic Church in present day Windsor on December 7, 1825. His godparents were Charles Renaud and Appoline Meloche.
In 1848 he married Emilie Rocheleau did Lesperance (born circa 1830). They had three children: Joseph George, Louis Francois, and Jacob. Emilie died on April 23, 1853. At the time of her death it was noted that Joseph lived in Malden, Ontario.
Joseph then married Henrietta on May 16, 1854 at the Ste. John the Baptiste Roman Catholic Church in Amherstburg, Ontario. Witnesses to this marriage Antoine Meloche and Caroline Pageot and Louis Drouillard. It is from this marriage that my ancestral line flows.
Henrietta was baptized at Assumption Church on October 3, 1833. Her parents were Antoine and Theresa Martin. Godparents were Joseph Giniac and Henrietta Martin.
Together they had eleven children. the fourth child born was Albemie who is my great grandfather.
Joseph dies July 25, 1874 at the age of 48 and is listed as a farmer. The death shows that he suffered from consumption for the 18 days before his death.
Henrietta’s death date is unknown.
