Some additional information on the ancestors and family of Stanley Lichota. His great grandparents are Maciej Lichota and Salomea Kostyra. Details about their marriage, births, and parents seem not to be available at this time. However, I did locate a record of the death of Maciej on September 1, 1829. He is listed as being 56 years old which would put his birth as being 1772-73. His death was recorded at the same parish of Dobrowoda, in Kikow where almost all Lichota recorded events occurred.
Additionally, I have found that the sister of Stanley, Ludwika who was born in 1902 married an Adam Sadowski at Dobrowoda in 1918. She was 16 or 17. We should note that Czar Nicholas II was overthrown by the communist revolution in October, 1917. They in turn formally withdrew from war with Germany with a treaty in March, 1918. All this while Russia still ruled over this area of Poland. Poland did not gain its (temporary) independence until 1919. What turbulent times these must have been.
For you none genealogists, yours eyes glaze over a bit trying to keep names and relationships straight. This is what the Lichota ancestral line looks like:
Maciej Lichota marries Salomea Kostyra date unkown has son Jozef
Jozef Lichota (b.1816) marries Jadwiga Marowska (b.1826) has son Jozef
Jozef Lichota (b. March 2, 1856) marries Katarzyna Sadowska (b. March 18, 1865) Feb. 20, 1884 have son Stanislaus (b. April 1, 1892)
Stanislaus Lichota marries Marianna Pugacz (b. Feb. 2, 1892) at Olyphant, PA September 24, 1912
Their children are Joseph, Stanley, Sofia, Julia, Anna, and Edward
I will leave it to each of you to fill your lineage from here.
I have previously listed the siblings of Stanley as well as siblings of the second Jozef above. Additionally, there are many births, death, and marriage records that include the Lichota name in and around Kikow, Poland. I will continue to try to link them together but records are sparse for the moment.
It is time to move to Stanley Lichota’s maternal side. I have identified at least five siblings of Katarzyna Sadowska. Remember the ending “a” is associated with a female and “i” with a male. Thus Katarzyna Sadowksa’s brother would be Stanislaw Sadowski. I don’t make the rules.
I will save the sibling story until next time. There is also some good news on the Puhacz front. There is an ongoing project to index more records in the Podlaskie district which would include the area around the parish of Kuczyn which may help us learn more about the ancestors of Marianna and Anna Pugacz.
