Martin Masse and Jeanne Ducor dite Leduc

From “Kings Daughters and Founding Mothers” by Peter J. Gagne and Familysearch.com, we learn the following about these ancestors.

Jeanne Ducors Ducors dit Leduc was born in 1649, in Paris, Île-de-France, France, her father, Paquet Ducorps dit Leduc, was 24 and her mother, Jeanne Souchon, was 22. She came to Montreal in 1666 at the age of 17. That year she was listed as a Fille a Marier (before the kings daughters) in the census living with the Congregation de Notre-Dame at Montreal, most likely at the Maison Saint-Ange. She is also listed as a Fille du Roi in most references to this group.

She married Martin Massé, a blacksmith, master taillander (carpenter) and locksmith in 1670, in Sorel-Tracy, Le Bas-Richelieu, Quebec, Canada. Martin was born about 1646 in Fontenay-le-Comte in the diocese of Lucon, Poitou, France. His parents are unknown. He was shown to be in Quebec City on January 12, 1666.

They settled in Montreal and had at least eight (8) children: Michal (1671-1730), Marie (1673-1736), Andre (1676-1681), Jeanne (1677-1764), Martin (1679-1692), Francoise (1682-1682), Anne (1684-1721), and Catherine (1687-1699). Martin was buried May 12, 1727 and Jeanne was buried on 19 December 1727, in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, at the age of 78.

The daughter Jeanne went on to marry Michael Campeau, son of Etienne Campeau and Catherine Paulo thus merging two of our ancestral lines.
